Cost of phone calls.

Someone who recently got released told us that phone calls are very expensive to recieve and to change my # to a morgantown # and it will be cheaper. Is this true? They are charged 23 cents per minute from their accounts.  They can call collect which is very expensive.  Make sure he transfers money to his phone account during in-processing or he will have to call collect until his next commissary day, which they get once a week.  I am not sure what it costs for them to call a local number.  Mike and I felt that it was not worth the hassel and expense of changing phone numbers, possibly carriers and signing a new contract for one or two years.  That would be a personal choice depending on your circumstances.  They are only allowed 300 minutes of phone calls a month so they can not spend more than $69 a month on phone calls anyway.  Except during the holidays which they will get 400 minutes for the months of November and December.
